GENE SIMMONS: PETER CRISS Had Too Many Problems With Drugs To Tour With KISS

April 1, 2004

According to KissFanShop.de, KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons revealed during an interview with Rock City Wednesday (March 31) that the band will probably start working on the next KISS album around October/November. He also refuted drummer Peter Criss' claim that he wasn't contacted about renewing his contract for the upcoming tour, saying that Peter was too unhealthy and had too many problems with drugs and alcohol to be able to tour with the band. The complete interview (in German) can be read here.

In other news, Joop van Pelt of KissKollector.com is reporting that the album cover for Simmons' upcoming solo album, "Asshole", is going to be "a photo of Gene dressed in a black suit looking like some kind of gangsta rap pimp with a lot of black eyeliner, and surrounded by women of all sorts, shapes and ages — ranging from young and beautiful, to big and old. Exactly the way Gene likes his women."

Simmons' highly anticipated sophomore solo album, "Asshole", is scheduled for release on May 18 through Simmons Records/Sanctuary Music Group. The title track, "Asshole", will be the first single released to rock radio on April 15.
